Driven pulley is 356-T6 Aluminum, machined by Jensen and hard anodized.

Main bearing is an extra-large sealed ball bearing which requires no lubrication.

Drive yoke is 356-T6 Aluminum.

Propeller shaft is 416 Stainless Steel.

Notes:

A - The tank shutoff device (A) is keyed to the shaft and seated against the propeller. Corrosion resistant materials and self-cleaning design assure positive sealing even after years of service. With the shutoff engaged, all parts of the mixer, including the shaft end bearings, may be removed for maintenance.

B - When the Mechanical Seal is replaced, the shaft is sealed at two points. In addition to the tank shutoff device (A) an O-Ring Seal (B), just inboard from the seal, is engaged. This minimizes product loss during seal change and acts as a backup for the main locking seal.

A stainless steel wear sleeve at the shaft end bearing prevents shaft wear, and may be reversed, giving the mixer many additional years of useful life.

The shaft end bearing is a unique, patented design using teflon and lead on porous bronze. It is self-lubricating and is not effected by the tank fluid. It also restricts product leakage in the event of a mechanical seal failure. Since 1959, literally thousands of these bearings have been installed in Jensen Mixers in vast arrays of petroleum services.

Mechanical Seal

The Jensen Type "F" Mechanical Seal is an integral part of every Series 400 Mixer and is designed for long life at low cost. Materials of construction were especially selected to suite petroleum applications.

  • Rotating Seal Face - Carbon
  • Stationary Seal Face - Ni-Resist 2 (High Nickel Cast Iron)

Both sealing members are extra heavy to prevent face distortion.

  • O-Rings - Viton A
  • Springs - INCONEL
  • Seal Sleeve - 316 Stainless Steel

If seal replacement is necessary, wearing parts may be purchased separately, cutting replacement cost in half.

Jensen standard materials offer optimum performance in any hydrocarbon application.

  • Shaft and wear sleeve - 416 Stainless Steel
  • Lock ring, lock bushing - 317 Stainless Steel
  • Propeller - Cast Steel
  • Drive Yoke - 356-T6 Aluminum
  • O-Rings - Viton A

The Jensen Series 400 Mixer is supported entirely by the tank manway or nozzle. No tie rods, bases or other external supports are used. Light weight and low-overhang design are the keys to this money saving feature.

The propeller shaft support is provided by the main bearing through the drive yoke at the outboard end of the mixer. The inboard end of the shaft has a bearing close to the tank lock-off ring and close to the propeller. With the long bearing span, any possibility of shaft whip is virtually eliminated.

All moving parts are completely enclosed by protective covers.
